Summer 2022 Update on the Latest Programs and Events in Your Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section

Fidelity & Surety Law Spring Conference

The Fidelity & Surety Law Spring Conference was held May 4–6, 2022, at the beautiful Marriott Hilton Head Resort & Spa in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The conference provided timely and valuable programming and opportunities to make new connections, strengthen existing networks, and connect with friends and colleagues alike. The programming covered issues encountered when underwriting and navigating the claims process on commercial surety and miscellaneous bond products. This was a tremendous opportunity to learn from leading professionals in the industry for the experienced surety underwriter or claims professional or even someone new to the industry.

The recently published The Law of Commercial Surety and Miscellaneous Bonds, Third Edition (ABA 2022), edited by Samuel J. Arena Jr., Kathryn M. Truman, Julie S. Alleyne, and Justin D. Wear, was provided to all attendees of the Fidelity & Surety Law Spring Conference and is the “go to” resource for all commercial surety practitioners. Updated and expanded, The Law of Commercial Surety and Miscellaneous Bonds, Third Edition provides a more comprehensive analysis of the law relating to commercial and miscellaneous bonds. The book’s 20 chapters address the various types of commercial surety and miscellaneous bonds, including their basic nature and purpose, what they cover, who is entitled to coverage under such bonds, and sureties’ defenses to claims under such bonds. This book is an indispensable reference tool for experienced and entry-level claims professionals and practitioners, as well as for general practitioners who can use this publication as an initial source from which to learn this complex area of law.
