Message from the 2023-24 FSLC Chair

Welcome to the FSLC! I am extremely proud and excited to serve as the Chair of the FSLC for 2023-2024. I cannot overstate the significance of the impact FSLC has had on my career and development as a lawyer. In addition to providing the opportunity to learn from the most experienced and knowledgeable lawyers in the fidelity and surety industries through FSLC programs and its many scholarly publications, the FSLC has allowed me to create a network of fellow fidelity and surety practitioners across the country that I truly consider lifelong friends. I know there are many other members that feel exactly the same way about the FSLC.

The FSLC is, bar none, the leading authority and resource on fidelity and surety law. The FSLC offers comprehensive conferences, publications, and online content presented by experienced industry professionals.  The FSLC hosts three national meetings every year providing outstanding educational programing for CE and CLE credit as well as opportunities to connect with fidelity and surety colleagues from around the country.  Our 2023-2024 FSLC meetings will be in Boston, New Orleans, and La Jolla. Preparation of these programs is well under way and each promises to be extremely informative, entertaining, and one of a kind. There are two books being published in conjunction with these programs—Annotated Financial Institution Bond and Annotated Commercial Crime Insurance Policy and The Construction Project: Phases, People, Terms, Paperwork, Processes (2nd Ed.). For more details, please go to Upcoming Events. I hope you join us!

In addition to these great programs, I encourage you to take advantage of our Newsletter published three times a year, which includes excellent articles on fidelity and surety topics, highlights new decisions affecting the industry, and provides useful practice pointers for fidelity and surety practitioners. I hope you also take advantage of our VLOG series. The VLOG series is made up of video presentations by industry professionals who provide insight on cutting edge fidelity and surety topics. The VLOG library, which continues to expand, includes easy to watch presentations on a broad range of fidelity and surety topics to be used as training tools, valued references, and general education for surety and fidelity firms and companies.

If you are relatively new or just haven’t yet gotten involved in the FSLC, I hope this is the year you dive in and experience all that the FSLC has to offer! The FSLC provides many opportunities for members to be involved in committee activities, including contributing to publications and the VLOG series, participating on one or more of our numerous active sub-committees, and/or presenting at in-person conferences.  I can’t encourage you enough to get in involved and make the most of your FSLC membership. You won’t be disappointed. If you are interested in getting more involved, please do not hesitate to contact me personally, and I’d be glad to help. If you haven’t joined the committee or need additional information, please click here.

However you got to this web page, you can always get back by either bookmarking this page or going to  Please return often as we will continue to add information and resources to keep you informed and enhance your FSLC experience.

I look forward to seeing you soon!
