Resources provided by the ABA TIPS Animal Law Committee
Purpose:
To promote strong communities for people and animals, provide legal information to animal shelters who currently do not have foster programs, and strengthen existing foster programs.
Foster programs (i.e., temporary housing of animals in the homes of volunteers) can help support shelters, their staff, and the animals they serve.
Fostering an animal can also provide emotional support and a positive activity for the foster carer.
Resources*:
- Template foster application and agreement
- State Foster Home Laws and Regulations (Updated 9/14/20)
The creation of these materials would not have been possible without the generous pro bono support of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. Please join us in thanking the Gibson Dunn team for their support of this project!
