The International Law and Governmental Law committees will present government and industry experts fresh from the front lines of hurricane duty to discuss their first hand experiences dealing with Hurricane Irene and several other major disasters, including, the September 11 terrorist attacks, Hurricane Katrina, Japan’s March 2011 earthquake/nuclear crisis and others.

Michael Balboni, former New York State Senator was the senior Homeland Security and Law Enforcement official for the State of New York after 9/11 who also participated in planning the security for the rebuilding of the World Trade Center, along with James R. Tortorella, Director of AON’s Risk Solutions and Rapid Response Consulting Group, on a live webinar will address some of the legal, insurance and practical issues that are arising in the wake of Irene and compare them to the aftermath of past disasters worldwide. Eric Merville, Head of Claims for AXA Corporate Solutions, will comment (from Paris) on his experience handling disaster related claims internationally.

Marshall Turner, partner at Condon & Forsyth LLP; Shirley Spira of Todd M. McCauley, LLC; and Reid Feldman from the Paris office of Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP will be moderating this program that will provide legal counsel and corporate executives insights into the profound impact the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks have had on how the public and private sectors prepare for and respond to disasters as well as the lessons learned from past disasters as recently as last week’s hurricane.
