I hope you and your families are safe and well as this time of uncertainty continues in our lives and practices.
We are here to support you through this crisis and connect you to others who have similar interests and share your challenges. The ABA’s Task Force on Legal Needs Arising Out of the 2020 Pandemic website is available, providing information about resources, changes in benefits and emerging legal issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The task force was created to address the growing legal needs of ordinary Americans arising from the COVID-19 crisis.
Recently, the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division’s Disaster Legal Services Program and Paladin, a justice tech company specializing in pro bono software, launched the first national disaster relief pro bono portal. The centralized, sortable database will list opportunities to serve those impacted by COVID-19, as well as the recent tornadoes in Tennessee and earthquakes in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and future disasters as they occur.
I invite you to get involved. Please visit the database for free access to cases listed by area of interest, location, and type of engagement. Our goal is to deploy TIPS members to help people across the country in times of emergency.
Please take a moment to share these important resources with those in your network and ask them to share with their networks as well. We will collectively make a difference if we can get this important information to those who need it.
Although much in our world remains uncertain, I am confident that we will get through this together. We are resilient and we will recover. Please take care of yourselves and those you love, and above all else, stay safe.
