TIPS Now! is a leadership initiative occurring every other year, last beginning in Fall 2024, that brings young leaders into the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS). The TIPS Now! Program springboards participants into leadership roles within the Section by providing involvement opportunities and leadership exposure. Through the program, the Section hopes to identify new leaders to participate in the Section’s General Committees, Standing Committees and Task Forces.
Requirements
The participants will be required to attend the Fall Meeting in October, the ABA Midyear Meeting, as well as the Section Conference, typically held in May and will be reimbursed up to $500 for travel per meeting. Six to eight participants will be chosen to fill the TIPS Now! Class of 2026-2027. The participants will be appointed to positions on TIPS Standing Committees, such as Membership, Law in Public Service or Long-Range Planning. The participants will help with membership initiatives and will also serve on TIPS Standing Committee on Outreach to Young Lawyers.
The TIPS Now! Class of 2026-2027 will be diverse in terms of practice area (plaintiff, defense and corporate counsel), gender and race, and will have demonstrated involvement in bar association and non-bar related activities. There is no requirement that the applicant presently be a member of TIPS. However, any person chosen to attend the program, must join the ABA and TIPS.
