Andrew C. Hecker Memorial Award
The Andrew C. Hecker Memorial Award is awarded annually to an attorney who has consistently demonstrated professionalism, excellent leadership, enthusiasm for outreach, and dedication within TIPS.
Edmund S. Muskie Pro Bono Service Award
The Muskie Award recognizes TIPS members who have embodied Senator Muskie’s dedication to justice for all citizens, his public service, and his role as a lawyer and distinguished leader of TIPS.
Excellence in the Advancement of Animal Law Award
The Excellence in the Advancement of Animal Law Award recognizes exceptional work by an Animal Law Committee member who, through commitment and leadership, has advanced the humane treatment of animals through the law.
Kirsten Christophe Memorial Award for Excellence in Trial and Insurance Law
The Christophe Award is given to a TIPS member who personifies Kirsten Christophe’s exemplary attributes of balancing career, profession, and family in life and practice.
Liberty Achievement Award
The Liberty Achievement Award recognizes attorneys and judges who take leadership roles in promoting diversity in the profession of law.
Pursuit of Justice Award
The Pursuit of Justice Award recognizes local lawyers and judges who have shown outstanding merit and excel in providing justice for all.
Robert B. McKay Law Professor Award
The McKay Law Professor Award recognizes distinguished law professors who have shown commitment to the advancement of justice, scholarship, and the legal profession, demonstrated by outstanding contributions to the fields of tort, trial practice, or insurance law.
James K. Carroll Leadership Award
The Carroll Leadership Award is awarded to an attorney or judge who demonstrates outstanding leadership within TIPS and honors the legacy of James K. Carroll who served as the TIPS Chair during the 2004-2005 bar year and was exceedingly active within the Section in the years leading up to his term.
The Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee Writing Competition
A law student writing competition addressing recent developments in admiralty and maritime law. The competition is co-sponsored by Gard (North America) Inc. (Gard), a leading provider of P&I, marine and energy insurance products.
The Aviation and Space Law Committee Writing Competition
A law student writing competition addressing recent development in any area of aviation or space law or discussing an area of aviation or space law where a controversy or disagreement exist.
The TIPS Scholarship Fund
The Scholarship Fund is a partnership of TIPS and the International Risk Management Institute (IRMI) designed to broaden the involvement of TIPS members who have limited financial ability to to participate in person at Section activities and to promote the inclusion in those activities of traditionally underrepresented groups.
