Tax Section Forms New Books Subcommittee

Roberta Mann

The Tax Section’s Publications Committee successfully voted on Friday, January 27th to form a Books Subcommittee. Its goal is to better engage substantive committees in developing book content that will sustain and grow the Section’s book publishing program. The Subcommittee is envisioned to be responsible for soliciting and vetting book proposals before they are voted on by the Publications Committee.

The Section’s current book titles emanate from standing projects such as Effectively Representing and the SALT deskbooks, from expansion of Effectively Representing chapters, and from unsolicited submissions. Other ABA sections have robust publishing programs and rely closely on their committees to generate new book projects. The new Subcommittee will begin as a small task force to seek member involvement and will develop into the full subcommittee shortly thereafter. Subcommittee members would be expected to work with two to four assigned Tax Section committees to identify and encourage work that could be a good fit for new book content.

We actively seek members interested in contributing to this new effort. If you’d like to get involved, please reach out to me at [email protected], with a copy to [email protected]. We’re excited to get things kicked off soon!
