About the Committee

Welcome to the State and Local Taxes ("SALT") Committee website. Our website contains information about the Committee and its various Subcommittees and Task Forces. It provides you with links to contact information for the Committee leadership team, and Committee's Tax Connect.

Our Committee meets at the regular Tax Section meetings. Please see the listing of upcoming meetings on the Tax Section website. At the regular Tax Section meetings, the Committee meets for a Friday lunch meeting at which we hear a speaker discuss a topic timely to the practice. Following the luncheon is the Committee's meeting at which three panels present topics of interest. A social / networking dinner follows. Saturday morning we meet for a Practitioners' Roundtable where you can obtain the latest information from fellow practitioners.

We encourage you to join one of the Committee's Subcommittees or Task Forces and to attend our meetings. We specifically encourage you to participate at the Practitioners' Roundtable on Saturday mornings when we meet.

We invite you to join us and to become an active member of the Committee.

State & Local Taxes on Tax Connect

Tax Connect is an online and email platform for networking, exchanging ideas, getting advice, and interacting with fellow lawyers and legal professionals with whom you share similar areas of interest. Tax Connect communities are grouped around common practice areas like Pro Bono & Tax Clinics and International Taxation. The communities are open to any Section member and are a great way to collaborate on projects and upcoming meetings!

Joining Section of Taxation Committees

The Tax Section has over thirty member-led committees and Section Members can join as many as they would like. Each committee deals with a common practice area, such as Individual & Family Taxation, Exempt Organizations, Employee Benefits, etc.. A full list is available on our Committees & Task Forces landing page. If you are interested in getting involved, learn more about Section Membership here.

Our committees provide a great opportunity to network and to get involved. Committee members create robust and current CLE sessions for our conferences, participate in government comment projects, create committee newsletters or publications, and more. Feel free to Contact staff with any questions!
