About the Scholarships
The Tax Section’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarships are designed to encourage members of diverse backgrounds or with a recognized commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion to attend and participate in our May Tax Meeting, Fall Tax Meeting or Midyear Tax Meeting.
The Section awarded the first two Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarships for the Midyear Tax Meeting in Boca Raton, Florida in January 2020. Recipients enjoyed the benefits of attending a number of tax related CLE panels, and the opportunity to network with other professionals from throughout the country. They also attended the Plenary Session Luncheon with guest speaker Michael Desmond, Chief Counsel of the IRS.
The Section embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion in every aspect of its activities, including its meetings. The scholarships for the virtual Fall meeting waives the registration fee. For the in-person Midyear and May meetings, the scholarship includes up to three nights stay at the host hotel, airfare, and attendance at the Plenary Session Luncheon. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements, but do not need to be Section members and law students, Enrolled Agents and CPAs are eligible for consideration in addition to attorneys.
Scholarship recipients will be required to fulfill several duties during and after the meeting, including attendance at certain panels and events, and subsequent reports to the Section’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarship Selection Committee. View our Upcoming Meetings page for updates.
