Our mission is to develop a community of LGBTQ+ practitioners and law students that actively practices our values of belonging and respect for diversity while deepening connection and investing in members through relevant and engaging leadership, mentorship, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (“DEI”) events and practices.
The LGBTQ+ Lawyers in Tax Forum (the “LLTF”) community connects and empowers practitioners to be their best in their tax career, and seeks to establish the American Bar Association Section of Taxation (“Section”) as the leading voice for LGBTQ+ practitioners in tax.
About Us
LGBTQ+ Lawyers Tax Forum
Who We Are
The LGBTQ+ Lawyers in Tax Forum (LLTF) is a new affinity group, founded in 2022, that strives to provide LGBTQ+ attorneys and law students an intentional community that honors their lived experiences and fosters relationships with others who share their identities, in addition to providing a forum to discuss topics of interest to their professional and personal lives; to build and sustain a strong presence of LGBTQ+ tax attorneys and aspiring tax attorneys within the Section; and to support and build on the Section’s existing goals of furthering diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The three pillars and guiding principles of the LLTF will be:
- Community - focused on creating an affirming and supportive environment to grow and deepen relationships and support identities that are underrepresented within the tax law field
- Mentorship - focused on providing opportunities for LLTF members at all levels of experience, but in particular emerging practitioners and leaders, support with career planning and professional advancement
- Leadership - focused on providing meaningful and valuable opportunities for LLTF members to receive speaking, writing, and other substantive opportunities and to find their “place” within the Section.
