The Loretta Collins Argrett Fellowship is a three-year program open to any individual with a diverse background and/or a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the tax bar. The Section aspires to award up to five (5) three-year Fellowships each fiscal year.

Two Mentors (one senior, one junior) will be matched with each Fellow for the duration of the three-year Fellowship, with an annual evaluation of the Mentor/Fellow relationship. Mentors will be matched with Fellows based on various factors including, but not limited to, geography and practice area. In addition to mentoring the Fellows on topics such as Section participation and career advice, Mentors will be expected to serve as advisors and, where appropriate, sponsors for the Fellows for speaking, writing, and leadership opportunities.

Mentor Expectations and Duties

  • Facilitate connections between colleagues and networks with the Fellow
  • Hold check-ins at least once monthly via email, text, phone, and/or virtual or in-person meeting
  • While not mandatory, Mentors are strongly encouraged to attend the Section meetings that their Fellow attends
  • Involve Fellow in Committee or Affinity Group work in which the Mentor is involved
  • Commit to maintain Tax Section membership for duration of mentorship
  • Expect, at minimum, 2-3 hours monthly for dedicated mentor duties
