About the Scholarships

The Tax Section’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Scholarships are designed to provide members of diverse backgrounds, historically underrepresented individuals, or those with a recognized commitment to DEI the opportunity to attend and participate in our May, Fall or Midyear Tax Meetings.

Recipients of DEI scholarship receive:

  • Complimentary meeting registration
  • Airfare to and from the meeting
  • Two nights hotel stay at the official meeting hotel
  • Complimentary ticket to the Plenary Luncheon
  • Complimentary Friday boxed lunch
  • Pre-conference meeting mentor match

The Section will provide a unique code to zero out the registration fees, will arrange the hotel reservation, and will provide access to the ABA’s online airfare booking, allowing scholarship recipients to participate without having to incur any personal charges.

Applicants must  provide a written statement detailing their unique backgrounds and needs, but do not need to be Section members to apply. Law students, Enrolled Agents, paralegals, and CPAs are eligible for consideration in addition to attorneys.

Scholarship recipients will be required to fulfill several duties during and after the meeting, including attendance at certain panels and events, and subsequent written reports to the Section with feedback on their experience to improve the DEI scholarship.
