Section Council member Peter Buchsbaum retired from full-time judicial service in 2013 but spent 2014 to April 2016 recalled to the bench to do land use cases; he is currently a court appointed master in seven affordable housing cases. He was recently in Cambodia to work on that country’s new environmental code in connection with an ABA project.
Peter Buchsbaum calls SLG members’ attention to a conference in Israel on May 13–17, 2017, with CLE accreditation for participants from the United States. This conference, sponsored by the Anita Saltz International Education Center of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, in cooperation with the Israel Religious Action Center, will present facets of the prism that comprises Israel’s national and international law. Sorell Negro and Jordan Lesser, co-chairs of the SLG International Committee, were in Namibia on September 3–11, 2016, as part of the Namibia pro bono project, sponsored by the Section, Robinson & Cole LLP, DLA Piper, and the Royal Foundation, to assist the Legal Assistance Centre develop wildlife crime laws to help address the poaching crisis, in which the most targeted animals are elephants and black rhinos.
