Since the beginning of the Nation, there has been controversy over the ability of state and local governments to regulate land use related issues on Native American Tribal Lands. Recently, heightened concern for economic development, environmental quality and natural resource management have accentuated the conflicting jurisdictional claims. This panel will provide both a national overview and specific guidance on the status and potential outcome of current controversies.
