Our focus is the study of election law and the unique role that state and local governments play in the administration of all elections in the United States. We consider issues related to equitable access to the franchise for all, voting rights, accessibility of polling places, election security, and state and local election administrators, among others.

Voting Wars Reach the Supreme Court – RNC v. DNC

The Supreme Court has waded into a state election controversy and, through a majority, has rendered its decision based on the time-honored principle that lower federal courts should ordinarily not alter the election rules on the eve of an election.

ABA study finds prevalent reports of discrimination faced by disabled, LGBTQ+ lawyers

Lawyers who either identify as having disabilities or who identify as LGBTQ+ report experiencing both subtle and overt forms of discrimination at their workplaces, with common reports of subtle but unintentional biases. The findings come from a new national study released today by the American Bar Association, in collaboration with the Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University
