Wendy Weiss

New Jersey Supreme Court Board on Attorney Certification | Trenton, NJ | Member (2021-2024)

Ms. Weiss obtained a B.S. in History in 1980 from Lehigh University and her J.D. in 1983 from Delaware Law School of Widener University.  She is a member of the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Bars.  Ms. Weiss started her legal career working for New Jersey Transit as a contract administrator.  She thereafter moved to private practice, working for law firms specializing in personal injury defense litigation, primarily handling cases sounding in medical and nursing malpractice, product liability and general negligence.  In late 1987, Ms. Weiss began working as a staff attorney in the Supreme Court Clerk’s Office, staffing the Supreme Court Board on Attorney Certification, as well as preparing digests of Supreme Court opinions and drafting memoranda related to interlocutory appeals and emergent matters before the Court. 

As Counsel to the Board on Attorney Certification, Ms. Weiss manages the operations and staff of the attorney-specialty-certification program in New Jersey.  The program currently certifies attorneys in five legal specialty areas.  The Board recently was tasked with studying expansion into additional specialty areas of law, which Ms. Weiss will spearhead. 

In 2010, Ms. Weiss was selected Counsel to another board, the New Jersey Supreme Court Board on Continuing Legal Education.  As Counsel, she manages the daily operations of the State’s mandatory continuing legal education program, including overseeing provider and course approval and attorney compliance. 

Ms. Weiss served as a member of the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Specialization from 2002 through 2005 and currently sits on the board of the National Board of Trial Advocacy.  She maintains active communication and involvement with state and national certification plan executives and with other state continuing legal education programs.

Ms. Weiss has served on several charity and non-profit boards over the years, currently serving as a trustee of a local homeowner’s condominium association.
