Can Cuba Be a Source of Drugs to Treat Alzheimer's and Other Diseases?

Raimundo Ubieta, Merardo Pujol, Geoffrey M Goodale, and Rodney Gonzales Maestrey

Due to trade sanctions, Cuba has been developing its own drugs. Currently, it is developing drugs to treat Alzheimer's and other neurological diseases (NeuroEpo), lung and other forms of cancer (CimaVax), diabetic foot ulcers (Heberprot), and ticks on cattle and other species.

The legal authority for the US to tap this source may be there. The missing piece is a structure that can support legally (FDA approval) and financially a cooperation endeavor for these promising therapies and drugs from Cuba.

Come learn about the research, possible future treatment, and what needs to be done.

On the Cuban side, the presentation will be made by researchers with the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) who present on research focus, scope, achievement, perspectives and cooperation interests.
