To provide a central location for resources to prevent scams, fraud, and financial exploitation of seniors including webinars, podcasts, organizations, alerts, brochures, posters, and telephone hotlines. The website will also provide attorneys with resources to provide pro bono information to their local community and their clients who are victims of fraud or exploitation. This Initiative allows SLD’s members to independently attempt to get the upper hand as we fight those that target our senior population.
According to the FBI, in 2023, Americans over the age of 60 reported over $3.4 billion in losses due to elder fraud, with the average victim losing around $34,000 per case, representing an 11% increase from the previous year; this data comes from the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).
