Continuing to Practice With Impaired Mobility

Alan Rachlin

I became a Senior Lawyer well before I became a disabled lawyer. I am living proof that there is not a contradiction between "disabled" and "lawyer," just as there is no contradiction between "senior" and "lawyer." If there is a general perception in the profession that disabled lawyers do not exist, it is akin to the general perception by some in the general public, such as bus drivers, that the disabled are un-persons. The solution is both education and a persistent insistence on recognition of one’s presence.
