This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Older Americans Act (OAA), 42 U.S.C. §§ 3001 et seq. The goal of the OAA is to improve the lives of older Americans. The OAA was first passed in 1965 and has been periodically reauthorized over the decades. When the ABA House of Delegates passed policy supporting reauthorization of the OAA in August 2010, someone tweeted that he didn’t know what the Older Americans Act was, but the ABA now has policy supporting it.
