The All of Us Program : The Gateway to Big Data HealthCare

The All of Us program intends to collect genome sequences and much other data from 1 million Americans and is the gateway to the big data era in health care. This big data focus promises a more accurate, effective, and perhaps even less expensive delivery of health care, but also raises a number of concerns relating to privacy, validity, and autonomy that must be addressed.

Precision Medicine and the Risk to Privacy

Precision medicine promises to integrate genetic analysis information from diverse data sources, and then use big data analytics to produce individually tailored medical care. This new approach to medicine raises many concerns, including whether it will be valuable beyond oncology and rare disorders and whether there will be equitable access to these more costly technologies at a time when tens of millions of Americans still lack access to basic health care.
