In 2023 and 2024, antitrust lawsuits, investigations, and settlements caused a systemic disruption for US real estate brokerage. As a result, real estate brokers and their associations must re-think their compensation procedures and agency relationships. The real estate brokerage industry is currently struggling to find its footing in a system no longer dominated by its venerable Multiple Listing Service-based compensation scheme.
