Description

The Property Tax Collection System: Privateers and Public Bandits

Recorded on July 12, 2022

Panelists:

  • Christopher Bradley, University of Kentucky Rosenberg College of Law
  • Christopher Berry, University of Chicago Law School, [email protected]

Moderator:

  • Elizabeth Elia, University of New Mexico

The property tax collection system, a necessary government function, is yet fraught with all manner of dysfunction and causes all manner of hardship and loss to property owners, when tax liens are sold to private entities who soon after purchase, dispossess property owners. The panelists will expose these schemes as both calculated and callous and offer comment on a regime that is less susceptible to profiteering.
