This webinar examines how the field of trusts and estates relates to wealth inequality.

Scholars will present their work analyzing the role that intestacy, dynasty trusts, and other forms of intergenerational wealth transfers play in accentuating wealth inequality. These instruments bear directly upon the "stickiness" of wealth inequality across generations and, relatedly, the elasticity of intergenerational economic mobility. The presentations will also examine the relationship between inheritance laws and societal attitudes in China and the U.S.
