Horizontal drilling for minerals under lands adjacent to one covered by a mineral right and capturing natural gas that rests under adjacent lands may be the most efficient method of mineral extraction, but both methods may also involve a trespass, at least under classic principles. The panelists will discuss recent decisions by the courts and offer insight into resolving the sometimes irreconcilable conflicts  between surface and mineral owners.
