The Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law initiatives include fellowships and a writing competition, designed to provide opportunities for young lawyers and law students.
Initiatives
The Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law provides recognition and opportunities for involvement to exceptional individuals.
RPTE Fellows Program
Each year, 10 young lawyers are chosen as RPTE Fellows. The Fellows serve a two-year term where attend Section leadership meetings and work with a substantive Committee Chair who serves as a mentor and guides them through all aspects of committee membership. Fellows also get involved in various projects such as writing for an RPTE publication or speaking at an event. Fellows also serve as liaisons to the young lawyer’s community and actively participate in the work of the Section Membership Committee.
Law Student Writing Competition
The goal of the RPTE student writing contest is to encourage and reward law student writing on the subjects of real property or trust and estate law. It is designed to attract students to these law specialties, and to encourage scholarship and interest in these areas. Articles submitted for judging are encouraged to be of timely topics and have not been previously published. This contest is open to all J.D. and LL.M students currently attending an ABA-accredited law school.
