Commission on Immigration will host two panels on Immigration Reform and Hate Crimes at Midyear 2019
Experts say hate is rising- and it's not all about Trump
Violence and hateful speech against immigrants is on the rise nationwide, but there is also a healthy backlash against it. That was the consensus of immigration experts at a program Jan. 26 at the American Bar Association’s Midyear Meeting in Las Vegas. Panelists at the program, “The Rising Tide of Hate: How Welcoming the Stranger in a Nation of Immigrants Has Turned Violent,” also agreed that getting rid of Donald Trump as president won’t end the hate.
Families on the Precipice
ABA President Hilarie Bass and other panelists provide first-person accounts of the treatment of immigrant families at the U.S. border as part of “Families on the Precipice: Navigating the Separation, Detention, and Reunification of Families at the U.S. border,” on Aug. 5 at the ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago.
