Adela Mason is the Director of the American Bar Association's Immigration Justice Project. Adela attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduated with B.A.’s in Global Studies and Spanish. Adela was the recipient of the Una Chapman Cox Scholarship while she clerked with the U.S. State Department at the U.S. Embassy in Montevideo, Uruguay. She received her J.D. from California Western School of Law. During law school Adela clerked with the Organization of American States - Office of International Law, the World Organization for Human Rights, USA, and with the San Diego County Public Defender’s Office. Adela has practiced immigration law for several years, in both the public interest and private sector, having worked locally with Kraus Law Corporation, Amezola Legal Group, APC, and Casa Cornelia Law Center where she served as the Pro Bono Program Director and Asylum Program Director. Adela is fluent in Spanish. She is a San Diego native and grew up spending summers at her family's home in Morelia, Michoacán.
