Overview
Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is an important immigration benefit that is available to certain individuals from designated countries. TPS for Haiti was recently extended and redesignated, causing many Haitians in removal proceedings to be newly eligible for TPS benefits. This virtual training will discuss strategies to consider when representing TPS-eligible Haitians in removal proceedings. It will cover topics such as the interplay between TPS and asylum, prosecutorial discretion, firm resettlement, and tips about initial registration and re-registration.
This presentation is geared toward attorneys interested in taking a pro bono immigration case on the Dedicated Docket, practitioners with a Dedicated Docket pro bono case, and practitioners new to immigration law. The presentation aims to provide information, practical pointers, and creative solutions to common issues to guide advocates in their representation.
