Format: In Person

This training is intended to provide a space for those serving unaccompanied children to learn from each other and to expand and improve advocacy for this unique population.

This training is available for individuals who provide free or pro bono legal services and related social services to unaccompanied children. This training is not open to federal government employees. 

REGISTRATION 

The ABA and KIND are pleased to announce registration is available for participants selected to attend the 2023 National Training on Representation and Advocacy for Unaccompanied Immigrant Children, scheduled for March 1-3, 2023, at Hotel ZaZa in Houston, Texas.

There is a $200 registration fee to attend the training, and participation is limited to 200 attendees. If you are one of the 200 participants accepted to attend you will receive an email from conference organizers with your registration code and additional registration information.

Who should attend?

This training is intended for staff and volunteer attorneys engaged in the provision of free or pro bono legal and related social services on behalf of unaccompanied immigrant children.

Is there a limit on attendees from a single program?

Yes. Due to limits on the number of participants, the organizers reserve the right to review applications and limit applicants from a single program to ensure a variety of participants and perspectives. 

When are the applications to attend and program proposals due?

The call for applications and proposals has closed and new submissions are no longer being accepted.

When will I find out if my application to attend the UC national training is approved?

The conference organizers will let you know if you have been invited to participate by the end of November.  If you are invited to attend, you will receive a link to register.

When will I find out if my program proposal is accepted?

The conference organizers will inform you if your program is accepted by the end of November 2022.

Is there a fee to register?

Yes, there is a $200 registration fee.  You will be asked to pay the registration fee once you have been accepted and sent the registration link. 

Do I need to register to attend if I will only attend to speak on a panel?

If you only intend to speak on a panel and will not be participating in the rest of the training, you do have to register but will not need to pay the registration fee. Please contact Laura Rheinheimer at [email protected] for instructions.

 Are there scholarships available for the registration fee and/or travel costs?

Yes, there are a limited number of scholarships available for participants who would otherwise be unable to attend.
