Terri Keville is a nationally known health law expert who has written and lectured extensively on healthcare law topics. The recognition she has received includes being named 2014 Health Care Lawyer of the Year for Los Angeles by Best Lawyers®. She is admitted to the bars of the State of California and the federal Central and Northern Districts of California, First and Ninth Circuits, and U.S. Supreme Court.
Ms. Keville’s practice focuses on advising healthcare clients on healthcare operational matters such as regulatory compliance; credentialing, peer review and other medical staff concerns—including physician substance use disorders and other health/impairment issues; Joint Commission accreditation standards; privacy and confidentiality, including the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and its Privacy Rule, as well as the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA); emergency care regulatory requirements (EMTALA); patient consent (including end-of-life issues); and clinical research. In her litigation practice, Ms. Keville has made favorable new law for California healthcare organizations in cases involving physician peer review, Medicare and ERISA preemption, and California’s Unfair Competition Law. Ms. Keville also has submitted amicus curiae briefs on behalf of healthcare entities in numerous important cases before the California Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal.
