As the Center’s Business Administrative Specialist, Joanne does much more than count beans. With over 20 years of financial, project management, and event planning experience, she’s obsessed with numbers and organization. Throughout her career, Joanne has worked with organizations across a wide range of industries – from nonprofits and information technology, to government contractors and real estate development.
Joanne’s work at the Center includes grants management, national conference planning, and contract administration. No matter which hat she’s wearing, Joanne shifts seamlessly between big-picture strategy and the smallest details of execution. Her goal is simple – to support the Center’s thought leaders so they can focus on improving legal representation for children and families, and the legal systems that impact their lives.
Whether at work or play, Joanne is passionate about social justice and equality. A native Washingtonian, Joanne is no stranger to marches on the National Mall or fundraising for a myriad of causes. Her mantra is “work hard, play hard” and she tries to infuse fun and laughter into the Center as much as possible. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and eating delicious food, being near the ocean, listening to live music, traveling, and enjoying life with her wife and gaggle of rescue animals.
