Alex joined the Center in September 2024 as a Staff Attorney with the Legal Representation Projects team. Alex brings her commitment to keeping families together and centering the experiences of those most impacted to her role at the Center.

Prior to joining the Center, Alex served as an Equal Justice Works Fellow at the University of Miami's Children & Youth Law Clinic where she designed and launched the Family Advocacy and Prevention Project. Through her fellowship, Alex provided direct legal representation to families facing evictions, intimate partner violence, and child custody disputes to prevent unnecessary involvement with the child welfare system. Alex also collaborated with community organizers, parent advocates and law students to develop Know Your Rights trainings for families in South Florida.

As an intern with the Center, Alex served as the Co-Chair of the Family Justice Initiative's project focused on Anti-Racist Lawyering in Practice from 2021-2022. The initiative developed practical tools and applications of social and racial justice principles for parent and child advocates to utilize in their legal advocacy. Alex's current work with the Center maintains a focus on the historical impact of racism and the systemic inequalities faced by the families involved with the child welfare system.

Alex received her B.A. in Child Study & Human Development from Tufts University and received her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law.
