Thousands of youth leave foster care every year. Like you, they face finding a place to live, a job, going to school and managing their money. It is important that you have someone you can talk to that has shared your experience and can give you advise when you need it.
Legislators, judges, lawyers and other professionals who work with youth need to understand your needs when you leave foster care. Many organizations run and operated by youth advocate for policy and law changes to ensure your voice is heard in the child welfare system and laws and policies meet your needs. Get involved in one of these organizations to meet other youth with similar experiences and to speak out for your rights!
