JUNE 26, 2025

12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

201 Caroline St., 17th Floor, Houston, Texas 77002

See below invitation:

I am the Hon. Linda Marie Dunson Presiding Judge of the 309TH District Court of Texas in Harris County. In 2022 the 309th District Court was selected by the Texas Supreme Court Children Commission as one of six Trauma Informed Pilot Courts. I am passionate about providing exceptional service to the families that come before me. Thus, it was an honor to be selected as one of the six “Trauma Informed Courts’ Pilot Programs by the Supreme Court of Texas, Texas Children’s Commission. Despite the growing attention to the needs of children facing adverse childhood experiences, particularly in the family court system when involved with Child Protective Services (CPS), Courts often lacked a complete understanding of the impact of trauma on the total population of litigants in their county. As a “trauma informed” Court, we have the special training and knowledge to understand how modifying the environment, policies and practices of the Court will effectively keep us from compounding the trauma experienced by children and adults involved in our legal system. The 309TH is dedicated to increasing family reunification and decreasing recidivism in the court cases that arise from litigation in the Child Welfare System. June is National Unification Month, a time to celebrate families who have overcome challenges to reunite!   We are excited to host this event among other activities that are planned across the county to lift up this important work and the accomplishments of the families that we serve.  It is a time to celebrate and recognize the vital role parents, relatives, caseworkers, attorneys, and community partners play in addressing common systemic and societal issues that many families are facing. These individuals and entities are the village of heroes that impact families and serve an essential role in keeping families together through advocacy, resource and encouragement. We consider YOU as part of the village.

As a trauma responsive court, the 309th would like to take this opportunity to share with you the transformative approach to CPS cases and highlight the families who remained intact because of your care and support.

COME CELEBRATE WITH THE FAMILY COURTS OF HARRIS COUNTY FOR OUR FIRST ANNUAL UNIFICATION EVENT!

Families First,

Judge Linda M. Dunson
