Secretary-Treasurer, American Academy of Emergency Medicine

L.E. Gomez, MD, MBA, is the newest Secretary-Treasurer for the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) and serves on the board of directors as liaison for the Ethics Committee and Social EM and Population Health. His current clinical practice in emergency medicine is in Maryland and West Virginia for the West Virginia University System. He has held various faculty positions including associate professor for Howard University College of Medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, in biochemistry and MD from the Mt. Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in New York City. He completed internship in medicine at Boston University prior to residency in emergency medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals. He later earned an MBA in Healthcare Administration. L.E. will complete an MPH at the Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health this Spring. He has been a medical director for emergency departments, community health, occupational health, and urgent care centers over his twenty plus years in emergency medicine practice. He is also a part-time healthcare consultant for GLG, a firm specializing in business performance, budget analysis, process engineering, and improvement of patient experience. He is also a consultant for AAEM Physician Group and member of the AAEM Physician Group Board of Directors.
