Course Overview

Government contracts is a boutique field of law.  Within this boutique field there are several niche areas of law that one can practice.  As a result, government contracts can be complicated for new and seasoned attorneys alike.  This two-day introduction to government contracts course is perfect for attorneys with limited experience (0 to 5 years) and seasoned attorneys looking for a refresher course.  Subject Matter Experts from private practice and the government will cover the nuts and bolts of major government contracts concepts.

Course participants will leave with an understanding of the:

  • Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) system

  • Agency Acquisition Planning

  • Source Selection

  • GAO Bid Protests

  • Contract Performance Issues

  • Contract Disputes and Terminations

  • Fraud Issues and Remedies

Course materials will include a course summary, session power point presentation handouts, and the Government Contract Law Deskbook (4th edition), a comprehensive, step-by-step guide through all aspects of federal government contracting.

This is a must attend event for attorneys who are new to the governments contracts practice and a great refresher course for seasoned attorneys. Other career fields that work in government contracts will benefit from gaining a basic understanding about the core government contracts concepts discussed during this course. In addition to the instruction led by seasoned practitioners, participants will have the opportunity to network and will receive a copy of the ABA Government Contract Law Deskbook (4th edition).
