The Ethics 2000 Commission resubmitted Report 401 for debate by the House of Delegates at the February 2002 Midyear Meeting.
In August 2001, the House debated proposed amendments to the Preamble and Scope, and Rules 1.0 through 1.10 of the Model Rules of Professional Conduct. Conforming amendments that were necessitated by the actions of the House appear below. Conforming amendments were required in Rules 1.0, 1.2, 1.6, and 1.10. The conforming amendments are reflected with new language underlined and deleted language struck through.
In this February 2002 Report, the following Rules have changes from the August 2001 Report: 1.11, 1.12, 1.18, 4.1, 4.4, 5.6, 5.7, 7.2 and 8.4. These changes were for the most part made in response to comments on the Commission's August 2001 Report. The revised text and Reporter's Explanation Memos for these Rules also appear below. Please note that the Rule text shows changes from the current Model Rule only. It does not indicate changes from the Commission's August 2001 Report.
