Nancy J. Moore (Columbia University Law School J.D.,1973), is the recipient of the 2021 Michael Franck Professional Responsibility Award from the American Bar Association Center for Professional Responsibility.
Nancy Moore is a Professor of Law and Nancy Barton Scholar at Boston University School of Law and a nationally recognized leader and scholar in the field of lawyer professional responsibility. Professor Moore has been teaching and writing on the subject of Professional Responsibility for over 40 years. She had authored nearly 50 articles on the topic, many of which are among the most cited scholarly works on the subject matter of professional responsibility. Professor Moore has twice been selected as Chair of the Professional Responsibility Section of the Association of American Law Schools. She served as the Chief Reporter for the ABA Commission on Evaluation of the Rules of Professional Conduct (also known as “Ethics 2020”), playing in integral role in redrafting the ABA Model Rule of Professional Conduct. Professor Moore has also served on the editorial board for the ABA/BNA Lawyers’ Manual on Professional Responsibility and the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility Policy Implementation Committee. Since 1991, Professor Moore has served on the drafting Committee of the National Conference of Bar Examiners that produces the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE); including having served over 20 years as chair of that Committee. Under her leadership, the Committee has worked tirelessly toward improving the exam and ensuring that it remains up-to date and responsive to changes in the ABA Model Rules. All of this is only a small highlight of Professor Nancy Moore’s impressive and expansive career. Professor Moore’s contributions to the improvement, implementation, and understanding of the Rules of Professional Conduct simply cannot be overstated.

Professor Moore will be presented virtually with the ABA Michael Franck Professional Responsibility Award during the 2021 National Conference on Professional Responsibility on June 3, 2021.
