2020 National Conference on Professional Responsibility and National Forum on Client Protection

Cancellation of the 46th ABA National Conference on Professional Responsibility and 36th ABA National Forum on Client Protection

It is with sadness that the ABA and the Center for Professional Responsibility have decided to cancel the 2020 National Conference on Professional Responsibility and the National Client Protection Forum. Recent events including recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the declaration of a public health emergency in Louisiana, the WHO declaration of the coronavirus (COVID-19) as a pandemic, and the growing number of law firms, corporations, and governmental agencies limiting or prohibiting travel make it clear that going forward with the Conference or Forum would be impossible.

An enormous amount of preparation has gone into planning this year's program, but it is imperative that we prioritize the well-being of the Center community and their families. We would like to thank all our speakers, sponsors, committee members, and liaisons, and other members of the Center community who have worked so hard in preparing for the Forum and the Conference. We hope that all of you will join us in 2021 in Denver for the next Conference and Forum.

Please note the following regarding cancellation policies:

  • Meeting: Cancellations for the Forum and Conference will automatically be processed, and refunds will be credited to you within the next two weeks using your original form of payment. For questions, please contact Marcia Yarbrough.
  • Hotel: Please note that hotel reservations must be cancelled by the individual who booked the reservation as soon as possible to avoid any penalties or fees. Please call 1-888-364-1200 for more information.
  • Airlines: Please note that flight reservations must be cancelled by the individual who booked the reservation. It is up to the individual airlines if they will waive change fees or issue credits for the entirety of tickets.

Thank you for your support of the Center for Professional Responsibility. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us by emailing Mary McDermott.

Sincerely,
Fred Ury, Chair, Center for Professional Responsibility
Alice Mine, Chair, National Conference Planning Committee
Alecia Ruswinckel, Chair, ABA Standing Committee on Public Protection in the Provision of Legal Services
