42nd National Conference Homepage

I look forward to seeing you in Philadelphia and am excited about the great lineup of topics, speakers, and networking events we have planned.

We’ll start Wednesday afternoon, June 1st with registration, a light reception to meet and mingle, and sign-up for the “Dutch Treat Dine-Arounds” at local restaurants later that evening.  We hope you join a dinner group with old friends and new!

Thursday and Friday our CLE panels of national experts will address issues such as:

  • How far can technology go in automating legal tasks?
  • Is it ethical to advise a client about posting or deleting information on social media?
  • Can a lawyer get a reward for revealing confidential information to the SEC if it violates the rules of the lawyer’s state but not the SEC?
  • How are changes in digital marketing blurring the lines between advertising and solicitation?
  • When should a child’s lawyer defer to his/her objectives or instead do what the lawyer considers to be in the child’s best interests?
  • And much more... (See Program Schedule)

There will be opportunities for networking with your colleagues during breakfasts, program breaks, lunch breaks and receptions, and you are invited to join optional discussion groups such as breakfasts with U.S./Canadian Regulators and the Academic Scholarship Roundtable and lunchtime programs with the ABA Consortium on Professionalism “Maintaining Civility in an Online World” and Roundtable with the ABA Commission on the Future of Legal Services.  Consult the Program Schedule for full details.

We are also pleased that ABA President Paulette Brown will join us as we honor Wallace E. “Gene” Shipp with the 2016 Michael Franck Professional Responsibility Award on Thursday afternoon.

On behalf of the Center for Professional Responsibility and the Conference Planning Committee, I look forward to seeing you.  Please let us know if you have any questions at cpr@americanbar.org.
