Jeanne P. Gray
The Jeanne P. Gray Diversity Scholarship program was developed to explore ways for the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility to build synergies with national diverse bar associations. The program was developed in memory of Jeanne and her over 30 years of dedication to the ABA and its Center for Professional Responsibility. Each year a national diverse bar association is invited to select a recipient to become a member of the Center’s family and help us explore ways to work more closely together.
In 2017 the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) participated in the program with Colorado attorney Cynthia D. Mares selected as the recipient. An Associate Judge in Aurora Municipal Court and Senior Legal Advisor at Axon Global, she is a former president of both the HNBA and the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association and was named in the 2015 Lawyers of Color fourth annual Power List, a comprehensive catalog of the nation’s most influential minority attorneys and non-minority diversity advocates.
Her previous positions include serving as Public Trustee for Arapahoe County, CO. and Assistant Regulation Counsel for the Colorado Supreme Court, Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel. Her numerous speaking engagements include topics relating to diversity, leadership and ethics. She has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Colorado and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver College of Law.
As the Jeanne P. Gray Diversity Scholarship recipient, Ms. Mares will participate in Center for Professional Responsibility activities including its Diversity Committee, educational conferences, leadership activities, and developing synergies with the HNBA community.
