Regulatory Scheme: Connecticut Rule of Professional Conduct 7.4A permits attorneys to state or imply that they are certified specialists where certification is granted "by a board or other entity which is approved by the Rules Committee of the Superior Court." [Rule 7.4A]. ABA accredited programs sponsored by the American Board of Certification and the National Board of Trial Advocacy have been approved by the Rules Committee. Additionally, the Connecticut Bar Association has approved standards, procedures and rules in the area of Workers' Compensation law and is certifying attorneys directly in this area of practice.
