Approved Private Certification Programs

Regulatory Scheme:

Hawaii Rule of Professional Conduct 7.4(c) says "a lawyer may communicate the fact that the lawyer is certified as a specialist in a field of law by a named organization, provided that the communication (i) is not false or misleading within the meaning of Rule 7.1, (ii) clearly states the name of the certifying organization, and (iii) is accompanied by a statement that 'The Supreme Court of HawaiIi grants Hawai'i certification only to lawyers in good standing who have successfully completed a specialty program accredited by the American Bar Association."
