The ABA’s Business Law Section undertook a multi-year effort to develop a full suite of tools devoted to legal project management in mergers & acquisitions transactions. The Business Law Section produced a best-selling guide on the tools now in its second edition.
A key component of that suite is a task code set for budgeting and reporting time incurred by law firms in M&A transactions. The codes reflect the phases of a deal rather than deal tasks and report the use of subject matter experts that support the transaction.
Firms looking for guidance on using these materials in planning M&A transactions should reference the ABA book "Using Legal Project Management in Merger and Acquisition Transactions."
