Message from the Chairs
We hope you and your families remain healthy, physically and mentally. When we wrote our last chairs’ message, none of us expected that the impact to our personal and professional lives brought by the COVID-19 crisis would be so profound or last this long. Our virtual connections have provided an invaluable lifeline to friends, family and professional contacts. Like everyone, our committee continues to adapt and adjust to these changes, and we will continue to provide our members with vital resources for your practice.
With so many important current events, we are proud to present a double issue of Coverage. Please read Terrance J. Evans’ important article, entitled The Pursuit of Racial Justice Can Pave the Way for Diversity and Inclusion in the Insurance and Legal Industries, and consider what you, your firm, your company, can do to pave the way for meaningful diversity and inclusion in the legal community, the insurance industry, and society more broadly.
This issue of Coverage also features articles on the emerging coverage topics of COVID-19, the sharing economy, and coverage for insureds’ affirmative claims for relief. We hope you find this useful, not only to your practice, but personally.
Planning for ICLC’s Women in Insurance (WIN) Conference is well underway. The conference is scheduled for November 5, 2020. We are monitoring COVID-19 developments and, for now, we plan to offer WIN as a hybrid in-person conference in Dallas, but also with a live streaming option, so that speakers and attendees are able to participate remotely. Despite the disruptions we all face, we have a fantastic lineup of programs and speakers planned. Save the date!
We are also in the midst of planning our yearly Tucson CLE conference, which is scheduled for March 3-6, 2021. We hope by then we can all return to enjoy the beautiful familiarity of the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. We will continue to provide updates for both meetings and encourage you to keep an eye out for our ABA Connect messages.
