    Young Advocates

    Mission

    The Young Advocates Committee serves as a resource for young litigators in their respective practices and within the Section of Litigation. Its mission is to provide continuing education and discussion on issues affecting the profession, and younger litigators in particular, and assist in the development of practice skills; provide networking opportunities with other YAC and Section of Litigation members; and serve as a gateway to other Section of Litigation committees and opportunities, including promoting the involvement of diverse young lawyers who practice in a variety of settings. The YAC recognizes and celebrates the future of the profession and the Section of Litigation: the young litigator.

    Message from the Chairs

    Welcome to the 2023–2024 bar yar for the Young Advocates Committee (YAC)!  This year’s YAC cochairs are Jena Emory, Rich Rivera, and Walter F. Metzinger, III.  We are so excited for this year, and we hope you will join us at our monthly calls and upcoming programs.  We would also love to publish you this year!

    MONTHLY COMMITTEE CALL:  We will be having monthly committee conference calls every third Thursday of the month at 4:00 p.m. ET.  New members are invited to join a few minutes early at 3:30 p.m. to get plugged into the committee.

    COMMITTEE PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES:  The committee is already working on programs of special interest to young litigators.  We are also collaborating with other Litigation Section committees to develop programs as well.  If you have a program idea or an interest in speaking on a program, please contact your committee cochairs.

    CALL FOR ARTICLES:  YAC is committed to highlighting its members and providing meaningful publishing opportunities.  We are always looking for articles and practice points.  Please contact Natalia Marte and Daria Pietropaolo for more information.

    SOUND ADVICE PODCASTS:  The committee plans on recording several Sound Advice podcasts throughout the year.  If you are interested in being featured or have suggestions for guests, please contact Dominique Baldwin.
