Mission

The Justice for All Committee is dedicated to improving and increasing the availability of pro bono and low-cost legal services for lower-income and other vulnerable persons. The committee also promotes the recognition of exceptional individuals and organizations who advance the availability of effective and affordable legal services to persons in need. We provide training and resources in legal advocacy, management, and fundraising for attorneys and programs that provide access to legal services.

Message from the Chairs

Welcome to the ABA Section of Litigation Justice for All Committee. We are dedicated to improving and increasing the availability of pro bono and low-cost legal services for lower-income and other vulnerable persons.

We offer resources, events, and other opportunities for our members to enhance their knowledge, network with like-minded attorneys, and facilitate legal services to all members of our communities. The Committee offers CLE programs, written articles, and other training geared toward the wide variety of issues and developments facing pro bono lawyers and other legal providers serving indigent and lower-income clients. Our committee sponsors the Legal Services Fundraising Training Program and the Legal Services Advocacy Program. We also oversee the selection process for the recipient of the Section of Litigation John Minor Wisdom Award for public service and professionalism. Our website also provides information on some of the ABA’s and Section of Litigation’s ongoing programs and initiatives helping to provide access to justice to the underserved.

We encourage those with an interest in this work to join the committee. We have listed some of the many ways to become involved. If you or someone you know is interested in joining our committee, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Ways to Get Involved

Cochair a Subcommittee

We have number of openings for subcommittee chairs, including for programming, our website/communications, and other projects. If you are interested in serving as a subcommittee cochair, please contact Judge Nancy Atlas or Dalton Courson.

Website

We are always interested in ideas for themes or articles for our website and distribution to our committee members. We strive to keep members abreast of new developments of interest to pro bono litigators and update those postings frequently. Please contact either of the committee cochairs if you have an idea and would like to write an article for the newsletter or website.

Periodic Conference Calls

Another way to get involved is to participate in our periodic conference call of subcommittee chairs and interested members. If you would like to be included on the next conference call invitation, please email Dalton Courson.

Programming

Are you interested in helping out with programming for the Section Annual Conference, annual ABA meeting, or regional meetings, including chairing this important subcommittee? If so, please contact any of the cochairs; we welcome your ideas.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
