Mission

Our core mission is to deliver practice-relevant information to the community of lawyers who represent plaintiffs and defendants in lawsuits implicating civil rights. Through a combination of programming, website materials, newsletters, periodic emails, and the work of our subcommittees, we strive to engage our members and enhance the quality of representation of individuals and institutions in litigation over the most fundamental protections that our federal and state laws afford. We also work to foster a collegial atmosphere among all members of the civil-rights litigation bar, both to coordinate efforts among lawyers who have common goals and to encourage healthy dialogue between the plaintiff and defense bars.

Message from the Chairs

We would like to introduce ourselves as the cochairs of the Civil Rights Litigation Committee. Ross Hill is an associate at Hunton Andrews Kurth who works in Houston, TX. His practice focuses on energy litigation and representing landowners, governmental bodies, and other condemning authorities in eminent domain proceedings and inverse condemnation cases. Alexander (Sandy) Bilus is a partner at Saul Ewing LLP who works in Philadelphia, PA. He assists clients who are facing complex commercial litigation or who need legal advice on issues involving cybersecurity and data privacy, particularly in the higher education industry.

Our committee’s monthly meeting is on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 2pm ET. If you would like to attend the meeting, please contact us for the Zoom details.
